Daniel Katz, Videographer and Photographer

Daniel Katz was born in Baku, Azerbaijan (Former Soviet Union) and moved to San Francisco, CA at the age of four. Growing up in "the city" has influenced his photography much as well as his passion for capturing emotion onto film. He started photography at the age of 16 after coming back from a life changing 1 1/2 month excursion across Israel. His first camera was a Canon EOS 300 (Rebel 2000) which was then replaced by an EOS 1N-HS and later a Hasselblad 501c. He recently purchased a Leica M3 which has changed his view of photography.

Photography also got Daniel into film-making which led to a role as a cinematographers assistant on the film SWAT. Film-making in turn has influenced his views of photography as well and a lot of photographic choices he makes are based on film-making experiance. He currently resides in London and is in his final year of studying for an Honours BA in Film at the University of the Arts London College of Communication. He is currently directing a documentary film about Japanese Design and Artisan Craftsmanship.
