Dr. Johan Stjernholm
Dr. Johan Stjernholm is the Artistic Director for the SpaceEngineering Dance Company and Associate Lecturer at Central Saint Martins and London College of Fashion. He has a PhD in Dance from the University of the Arts London, an MA in European Dance Theatre Practice from Laban, and a BA in Dance Theatre, also from Laban, London. Prior to his arrival to the U.K., Johan was dancing in New Zealand and at Balettakademien in Sweden.
Johan 's field of practice includes work for the theatre, the camera, and site specific productions. Being an expert in European Dance Theatre Practice, Johan has for many years been collaborating with Dr. Valerie Preston-Dunlop in the development of contemporary applications of Rudolf Laban's system of choreology, choreutics, and space harmony.
